Local Police
Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police state preliminary tests indicate the substance was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they stated.
City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking political figure stated the incident rendered him without words and needed to be solved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine victims by a shooter targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
