Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player claimed his first title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Success also signifies he has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the last five games to go ahead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game chances in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
